Active Threat Instructor

This 4-Day Active Threat Instructor Course prepares law enforcement officers to effectively respond to active threat incidents and develop agency-level training programs based on modern tactics, current threat trends, and real-world operational environments.

Description

This 4-day Active Threat Instructor course equips law enforcement officers with the skills needed to respond effectively to active threat incidents and deliver training within their agencies. The course prepares officers to operate in diverse environments—including campuses, crowded venues, and vehicle-based ambush attacks upon arrival—while emphasizing adaptability and real-world application.

Training covers Phase 1, Phase 2, and the transition to Phase 3, with a strong focus on current data, trends, and evolving threat patterns. Instruction prioritizes immediate action principles: stop the threat, stop the dying, and stop the bleeding, with special emphasis on rapidly removing injured individuals to safety.

Following a brief overview of Active Threat Interdiction concepts, the course is primarily hands-on. Students develop skills in movement, communication, and decision-making under stress through force-on-force exercises and scenario-based evolutions.

Key topics include pre-attack indicators, solo response and team integration, movement through crowds, vehicle-based ambushes upon arrival, priority of life considerations, and managing interactions with off-duty officers and legally armed citizens.
